Karl is the most prolific racer participating in the East Coast Impala SS Racing Series with 14 ECIRS event wins from 2000 to 2007.  He drives either his 95 DGGM Impala SS or his 9C1/SS Clone at ECIRS events.   Racing luck and success has followed him to National events too.  Karl has won every National Impala club event he has attended, (Bowling Green 99, Tulsa 2003, Vegas 2004, Pocono 2005 and Indy 2006), until finally breaking that streak in 2007 by losing the Super Pro final at St. Louis. Some say that Karl "Owns" Maryland Int'l Raceway.  Every ECIRS event ever held at MIR has been won by Karl, (6 wins in 6 years).  2006 and 2007 found Karl spending less time racing and more time building engines for his new company, Ellwein Engines.
